In an unexpected fashion, yesterday, Wizards of the Coast made a huge announcement about their latest game project which was in the works for years. The publisher revealed that the company is nearing the end of the development process together with another game development studio Tuque Games and plans to release a new RPG game titled Dark Alliance which is set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The game should debut on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X during the first month of summer, on June 22nd.

Here’s an official trailer:

If you’ve never heard about this game before, you should know that it’s a fairly interesting and somewhat wacky third-person action RPG game that continues the legendary Dark Alliance series. Think of this game as a spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance II that were released in the early 2000s.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was initially announced back in 2019 during The Game Awards ceremony and was supposed to be out in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the game was delayed indefinitely. Some Dungeons & Dragons fans were expecting it to be released sometime around 2021 fall, but the publisher decided to pick the slowest month in the year for gaming. While usually, game sales are not high during summer, there’s also almost no direct competition slated for June release…

The game seems a lot of fun and we can’t wait to play it. However, there’s still some time until the release, so if you’re bored, we suggest you check out our latest RPG collection. There you’ll find plenty of great games to keep you busy while you wait for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.
