Axel and Hazel play very differently, so it's worth learning both. You cut through enemies in hand-crafted 2D levels with more than one route. Replaying a stage to find a faster path is part of the fun. The seven stages take you across Planet Lumna, from futuristic cities and forest ruins to floating cities above the clouds. Bosses bring their own mechanics and bullet patterns, and combos stagger them.
