If you’ve been following the news regarding the upcoming Uncharted movie, you already know that the production of the picture is plagued by many problems. At first, there were a lot of actor swaps followed by numerous speculations, until Tom Holland was selected to play the role of Nathan Drake. Later, the movie lost its director Shawn Levy who was later replaced by Dan Trachtenberg. However, Dan has also abandoned the project…

According to the news, Sony is already searching for another director to take on this seemingly cursed role in the upcoming Uncharted movie. The company plans to bring in a new replacement by the end of September, while the production of the picture is set to begin in early 2020. Prior Shawn Levy and Dan Trachtenberg, the director’s role for Uncharted movie was dedicated to Seth Gordon, who also decided to pass on the role.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the movie script to Uncharted has already been rewritten a couple of times. The first iteration was done by Joe Carnahan, later the role was passed on to Rafe Judkins until Sony decided to tell a tale about the young Nathan Drake and tasked Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker with writing a new story. So, the only production role that seems set in stone is Tom Holland’s depiction of Nathan Drake.

Having all of this in mind, it’s fairly safe to say that Sony has some major problems right now. Well, at least on projects that involve Tom Holland. A bit earlier in the week, Sony clashed with Disney, which is a Marvel Studios parent company, their beef involved the financing of the upcoming Spider-Man films.

As for Uncharted movie, we can only hope that so much change prior to the start of production won’t make the movie worse. And that Sony, won’t abandon it mid-way…
