Daddy Jeff released a new Overwatch Developer update and fans of the game got some big news to talk about. The first and foremost is the new free-for-all deathmatch map called Kanezaka. According to Blizzard, it’s already released on the game’s PTR and should land on live servers in the coming January.

According to Jeff, the new map is filled with various easter eggs, features cars, and has plenty of vertical play options. The map is set just below the Temple of Hanamura (that can be seen in the background), so that means that we can expect some cute lore bits about Genji or Hanzo.

In addition to the new map, Jeff also talked a bit about the year Overwatch had in 2020 and recapped the team’s achievements. He admitted that the Overwatch team has been a bit slow with new content in the previous few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but ensured that their team is way bigger now and is hard at work developing a sequel. Jeff Kaplan also confirmed that we will get to see more of Overwatch 2 in the upcoming BlizzConline event this February.

While you wait, you can check out the new map on the game’s PTR or hop on Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland 2020 event activities in the live game.
