Sonic fans can finally rejoice as their favorite hedgehog will receive a demanded plastic surgery. Jeff Fowler, the director of the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie, officially announced that the movie is on delay, and the official release will be pushed back to February 14th, 2020.

Recently, we wrote about the community’s backlash regarding Sonic’s looks in the new movie trailer. The new Sonic quickly went viral as a meme with fans criticizing its new, more humanoid-like design. Fans demanded change, so the creators of the movie decided to comply.

In the new Tweet, Jeff Fowler posted an image announcing the new release date for the movie and made a simple statement that the production will take a little more time – ‘to make Sonic just right’. There’s also a hashtag which made us laugh – #novfxartistswereharmedinthemakingofthismovie.

While we can’t safely say that the new Sonic will be everything that fans hope him to be, in the tweeted picture the sign holding the new date has gloves and we’re guessing that it’s a step towards the right direction…

Here’s a trailer which ‘inspired’ the change:
