When it comes to gaming, Sony and Microsoft have always been at war. PlayStation vs Xbox is a well-known rivalry in our industry. However, now it’s time for a moment of peace since both companies decided to collaborate on ‘cloud-based solutions for gaming experiences and AI solutions’.

According to an official press release, the two companies will explore joint development of future cloud solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform to support their respective game and content-streaming services. In addition, the two companies will explore the use of current Microsoft Azure datacenter-based solutions for Sony’s game and content-streaming services.

The goal here is to create ‘more enhanced entertainment experiences’ and to provide ‘better development platforms for the content creator community’. However, we’d translate it to ‘we don’t want Google Stadia to kick our ass while we fight’.

Currently, there is no clear information on what this collaboration might bring but we can always speculate that by sharing their respective technologies (Sony’s image-sensors and Microsoft’s Azure AI), both companies can make a huge leap forward. For now, we’ll just how to wait and see. You can read the full press release here.
