Blood Bowl 3 – an American football-inspired game with fantasy characters – was recently delayed. However, developers decided to give their fans something to wait for and announced a closed beta test that will begin sometime in early 2021. Closed beta means that not everyone will be able to play and test it. According to Cyanide Studios, only players who pre-order the game will get an invite to enjoy some violent fun.

While the game was originally planned to be released in 2020, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic influenced some changes. The game was originally announced during Gamescom this year where we got to see the first trailer. Check it out if you missed it:

In case you haven’t heard about Blood Bowl before, you should know that it’s a weird turn-based spin-off based on the Warhammer series where characters from that universe are trying to score as many touchdowns as possible. Of course, you can kill your opponents too…

Blood Bowl 3 will come with a certain set of improvements and some new content for those who loved the original games. Or as the developer puts it:

“Funnier, bloodier, and more spectacular than ever, Blood Bowl 3 will be a hit with fans of the universe and strategy games alike. At launch, the game will include 12 teams with their own pitch and cheerleaders, Campaign and Multiplayer modes, and more customization options than a Blood Bowl game has ever received before.”

The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/X, and Nintendo Switch. While you wait for the release we suggest checking out some previous Blood Bowl games.
