If you’re a fan of a long-running British sci-fi TV series Doctor Who, you’ll be pleased to know that we’re getting a game based on it. According to an announcement by BBC, the new game called Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is headed to PC and consoles early next year.

Here’s a trailer:

According to the description, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will be a reimagining of last year’s VR experience called The Edge of Time that was fairly successful among virtual reality players. Apparently, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will be a new version of the vs game flexing a new first-person perspective and enhanced graphics. And it will also tell a new story!

Fans of TV series will be pleased to know that Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will be a crossover event of sorts where the current 13th doctor (Jodie Whittaker) will team up with the tenth doctor (David Tennant) in a continuation of The Edge of Time’s generation-hopping adventure.

It’s interesting that this partial sequel won’t have a VR version. BBC Studios, Just Add Water, and Maze Theory teams decided not to invest in further VR development and decided to go down a more traditional path. It will be interesting to see what numbers it will show. Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in spring, 2021.
