Demon’s Souls remake for PlayStation 5 might be one of the most anticipated games going into the next-generation. The game will be released on par with the console launch and many fans of the Souls franchise are already boiling with excitement. However, some Demon’s Souls purists are not happy about Demon’s Souls Digital Deluxe Edition, which apparently will give players an advantage.

Yesterday, Sony released a new blog post detailing things that players will get with Deluxe Edition. While many expected rewards to be cosmetic, it’s not only that. For an extra 20 bucks, owners of Demon’s Souls Digital Deluxe Edition will get extra equipment, items, and even souls, giving you a leg up in your journey through Boletaria.

Here’s a list of what you’re getting with the Deluxe Edition:

  • Full game
  • Legendary Hero Soul
  • Renowned Warrior Soul
  • Storied Warrior Soul
  • Red-Eye Knight Armor
  • Boletarian Royalty Armor
  • Ritual Blade
  • Hoplite Shield
  • Ring of Longevity
  • Preservation Grains
  • Phosphorescent Grains
  • Bearbug Grains
  • Large Hardstone Shard
  • Moonlightstone Shard
  • Original soundtrack

As we’ve mentioned, a lot of Demon’s Souls hardcore fans are not happy, since a lot of these items can make your character stronger than it’s supposed to be at the start of the game. Some even called this a pay-to-win service which, at least partially, is true.

However, we should all calm down a bit and remember that it’s still a Souls game and most of the players will drop all of their Deluxe Edition goodies in the first 5 minutes of the game. The most likely scenario is that Demon’s Souls Digital Deluxe Edition is targeted towards hardcore Demon’s Souls fans who want to kickstart their journey and quickly skip the beginning of the game, focusing on the real thing… In any case, it’s a weird decision by Sony. We don’t know about you guys, but we don’t want to rush through a game which looks like that:

If you’re interested in purchasing the game, PlayStation Store already opened up pre-orders. You can save some money if you decide to get the game using our PlayStation gift cards.
