Yesterday CD Projekt Red hosted its very first Night City Wire presentation and during it, we received a very special announcement – Cyberpunk 2077 will get a standalone anime series on Netflix in 2022.

The new anime has an edgy title – it is called CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS. In a 10 episode run, creators hope to tell a completely new story based in the same universe as the game’s characters. The project will be lead by anime industry veterans Studio Trigger, who previously created a lot of popular animes you might’ve heard of – Studio Trigger produced Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and more.

Of course, CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS won’t debut for quite some time, but CD Projekt Red’s enthusiasm is contagious. Moreso, while the game is set to be released this November and anime set for a date two years from now, it gives players a lot of hope that the company will support Cyberpunk 2077 for quite a while.  Why else would you create an anime based on a game two years after its release?

In any case, there were more details about the game and gameplay, not just anime in the Night City Wire presentation. If you’re interested, be sure to check out the video below.
