After a bombastic BlizzCon announcement, there wasn’t a lot of news from Blizzard regarding the new Diablo game. However, yesterday, the development team released a new blog post on their Diablo 3 website which is dedicated solely for Diablo 4 and in which the team confirms that their upcoming demonic sequel will bring back Elective Mode which had a huge success in Diablo 3.
If you’re a longtime fan of Diablo games, you might already know that after your character levels up you get a new skill. In the first two Diablo games, these skills were assigned on their respective buttons automatically, however, Diablo 3 gave players an option to assign certain skill categories to certain buttons allowing you to choose your primary and more defensive abilities. This option will return to Diablo 4.
The statement from Blizzard reads:
“There’s a misconception that Diablo IV will lock skills to specific slots because of the BlizzCon demo user interface. Like many other things in the demo, the UI is not final and we will support Elective Mode-style skill selection. Skill selection and assignment will always be completely open for all players.”
While this news is not something big, fans of the game will be pleased to hear it. During BlizzCon, players who got to try Diablo 4 for themselves seen that Elective Mode wasn’t available in the demo. This led to speculation that Elective Mode won’t be returning to the game, and Blizzard wants to take away the player’s freedom of choice on how to control the game’s characters. Chill – Blizzard got this…
In addition to Elective Mode confirmation, the blog post also had some information about Diablo 4’s itemization, endgame progression, dungeons and more. If you’re interested we suggest you hop on the Blizzard’s page to read through all the details provided by the development team.
