Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s new battle royale mode might be one of the worst kept secrets in the video game industry. Everybody knows it’s coming, but nobody has any clue on how and when it will be implemented into a core game. Recent internet leaks suggest that it might debut in early March and could be a free-to-play mode similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Blackout.

Video Games Chronicle reported that CoD: MW battle royale mode could be called Warzone and should land on March 10th. However, the same source said that early leaks suggest that Warzone might become a standalone mode and not just trail, which might mean that we’ll get a separate installation file.

If you’re a regular Eneba blog reader you might remember us talking about this mode back in November. Back then, we shared some maps and first details about the rules of this massive venture by Infinity Ward. According to early information, Warzone will allow up to 200 players and will feature Solos, Duos, and 4-player squads. Furthermore, there’s an option to respawn after you are killed. Eliminated players will be sent to someplace called “Gulag”, there you’ll get a chance to battle someone 1 on 1 and if you come out on top you’ll get a respawn.

At this point, it seems that the only thing fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are missing is the official confirmation. So, where is it? Frankly, we can only guess, but our money is on the fact that this ambitious new mode might not yet be ready or is full of bugs that need squashing. In any case, an official word from Activision-Blizzard would be nice…
