When it comes to leaks about video games we’re always trying to find the source of the leak. This time, the source of the new and free DLC for Borderlands 2 comes from Steam itself. Borderlands 2 page on Steam features a new DLC title Commander Lilith &  The Fight for Sanctuary alongside a promo image. While the product page is still hidden, the listing reveals that it’s planned for release on Sunday, June 9th.

Rumors about the new DLC for Borderlands 2 are not entirely new. Some internet sources claimed that before the release of Borderlands 3, Gearbox is planning to bridge the story between the old and the new game. They even managed to capture the description of the DLC which has since been removed.

‘Return to the award-winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet

Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.’

Giving players an incentive to enjoy Borderlands 2 before the release of the new game is a smart move. It helps to build anticipation and introduces a bunch of newcomers to the Borderlands universe. Additionally, Borderlands 2 is currently available for free through PlayStation Plus subscription service as a part of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Smart moves, Gearbox, smart moves…
