Overwatch has a tradition to announce a new hero for their game during the summer. However, this tradition might be broken as the game director Jeff Kaplan explained in the latest Developer Update. Jeff confirmed that the Hero 31 is indeed coming but it might be arriving a bit later than fans expect.

Jeff Kaplan didn’t reveal much about Hero 31, but he did reveal a couple of things. He confirmed that Hero 31 will be a male character and stated that it will come a bit later.

“Hero number 31 is going to be awesome, but he is going to be released a little bit later than you’re used to. We think a little bit of extra time is going to make the hero even more awesome.”

Our guess is that the new hero will be revealed in the upcoming BlizzCon which is slated for November. All in all, it’s going to be an interesting summer for Overwatch full of speculation about Hero 31.

In addition to the tease, Jeff also shared some details about the upcoming Summer Games event which should kick off “much sooner” than usual. Having in mind that usually the event starts at the beginning of August we might expect it to begin in the upcoming week or two.

Additionally, this year’s Summer Games will include new weekly challenges where players will be able to unlock some bonus rewards and new epic skin. Jeff Kaplan said that Summer Games will offer three unique challenges for each week of the event which will be reminiscent of recent Overwatch weekly mini events.
