About a month ago we shared some sad news about Baldur’s Gate 3 being delayed. However, in the same post, we said that fans shouldn’t worry too much as it most likely will be rescheduled soon. That time is now! According to the recent developers stream titled ‘Panel from Hell’, Baldur’s Gate 3 will become available on September 30th. Players will be able to play the first act of the game through Steam and Google Stadia.

If you have an hour to spare, be sure to check out the full panel since it has a lot of interesting information regarding the game and its development process:

If your time here is short, allow us to shed some light on the most important stuff that was mentioned during the stream. While the Early Access date reveal was one of the biggest news of the evening, we got some more information about the game itself. According to Larian Studios, the game’s Early Access build will launch with 5 Origin characters – Astarion (Elf/Vampire Rogue), Gale (Human Wizard), Lae’zel (Githyanki Warrior), Shadowheart (Half-Elf Cleric), and Wyll (Human Warlock). It will also feature an option to create your own character if that’s something you wish to do.

Another thing that’s worthy of a mention is the game’s content. Even the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be massive – developers stated that Early Access build should take players approximately 25 hours to complete. The story will be self-contained, so don’t worry too much about being left without resolution near the end of the first act.

In addition, Larian Studios also shared some interesting numbers that better define the scale of the whole game. The studio compared their latest title Divinity Original Sin II with Baldur’s Gate 3 showing that even the first act of the new game will be three times bigger than their other popular RPG.

  • Number of combat encounters: 22 in DOS2 EA vs. 80 in BG3 EA
  • Number of English dialogue lines: 17,600 in DOS2 EA vs. 45,980 in BG3 EA
  • Number of characters: 142 in DOS2 EA vs. 596 in BG3 EA
  • Number of spells/actions: 69 in DOS2 EA vs. 146 in BG3 EA

And lastly, we got some early hardware requirements. While developers stated that these might change and decline in the future, currently, you’ll need a computer with Intel i7 4770k / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, 16 GB RAM, and Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB / AMD RX580. These are recommended specs, so there might be a chance that Baldur’s Gate 3 will run with slightly lesser specs.

We got more than a month of waiting until we get a chance to start playing this promising title. While you wait, we suggest you check out some previous Baldur’s Gate titles or try out Divinity Original Sin games. It will keep you busy and ease up your RPG cravings.
