For a while, Apex Legends esports lacked structure and vision to really capture the interest of its player base. Now, it’s about to change as EA and Respawn took a step forward and revealed their future plans for the game’s competitive scene.

According to the news, Respawn is going to initiate the Apex Legends Global Series – a new series of tournaments that will kick off early next year. According to a trailer, the series will spawn over 12 live events, where players from over 60 countries will be able to compete and prove their skills in order to get a share of a prize purse of 3 million dollars.

Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella said this in his statement:

“Competition is at the heart of Apex Legends. We expect that esports will play a big role in the future of Apex Legends and it all starts here, with the Apex Legends Global Series. We look forward to seeing who, out of our millions of players, will become true legends of the arena.”

Apex Legends Global Series will work in a similar fashion as other battle royale esports. Teams will start earning their Global Series Points by participating (and winning) in online, regional and global competitions. If the team gathers enough points, it will be invited to Apex Global Series major event for a chance to win some money and a ticket to the finals.

Apex Legends Global Series will kick off on January 25th with the first online qualifier. The first live event is scheduled for March 13th. If you’re interested in learning more about the competition, we suggest you hop on to an official page and read all about it there.
